This is the image at the core of all mandalas. There is a lot of mysticism connected to this image. Among the most interesting stories that I have heard is that it is the gateway to heaven. As such it is used by angels to return to heaven. In order to go home they must draw this image perfectly to open the gates of the Kingdom of Heaven.
In a practical sense this image is incredibly complicated. With a simple set of lines and circles the image contains a 3d drawing of all platonic solids. So well, maybe this is the structure of God’s creation.
